Displaying all sorts of military vessels and antique military items, Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum's crowning exhibit is the USS Yorktown, a World War II aircraft carrier that saw action in the Pacific Theater. Also on display are numerous WWII fighting planes and bombers, restored to fighting condition, as well as the USS Laffey destroyer, USS Clamagor submarine and US Coast Guard cutter Ingham. New in 2007, the museum also holds the Congressional Medal of Honor Museum, which details the achievements of some of its recipients as well as the history and significance of the medal itself. The museum is located on the Charleston Harbor, across the water from the city itself, next to Patriots Point Golf Links. Ferry tours to Fort Sumter depart from the museum, offering a different look into American military history.
