Love, love, love their She Crab Soup. Is there anything better than great food while looking at the ocean? My fiance and I have eaten there every trip to Charleston and have never been disappointed. I have tried many different menu options and have alway been pleased.

Great ambiance and good service. I like the menu and the dishes presented at my table looked superb. We did receive a barely warm/very thick bowl of She Crab Soup. After sending it back (less than two minutes after receiving it) we got our entrees before the soup. We cancelled the soup...who wants to have their appetizer after starting the entree? As I said, the dishes (specifically our entrees) looked outstanding. The downfall is that there was absolutely no seasoning in our dishes...zero. Do you know how horrible pasta noodles and "sauteed" mushrooms taste with no salt? It wasn't good...not by a long shot. Pretty, yes...good, no. Hopefully Locklear's will get some better cooks in the near future.

I have been dining at Locklears for over 20 years and have had many great meals. I always know over half the diners there when ever I visit. What a great local restaurant with a value priced menu. Lance Howard Executive Chef P.S. Yankees Welcome!

Having read in the Charleston Insider's guide that Locklear's had a number of "Heart Choice health conscious" items on their menu, I eagerly visited their website, fully expecting a menu full of broiled, grilled, sauteed fish and fresh, steamed veggies. But found, instead, mostly fried fish. And, what wasn't fried, smothered with butter or cream based sauces. And, instead of the steamed veggies, I found corn fritters, fried okra, potatoes and rice. The menu was filled with fried, or otherwise fatty, entrees and high gycemic, starchy sides. Nothing heart healthy that I could see. Just the usual fish-house fare that can be found anywhere, usually at a better price. So, I sent an email, asking why there weren't any steamed veggies. And, received an extremely arrogant, obnoxious reply from their chef, Lance Howard. Acusing me of wanting a discount. Discount? With his attitude, you couldn't pay me to eat there. Transplant from the North? I was only born in Massachusetts because my Georgia native parents were living there while my father attended Harvard. And, FYI, Lance, I've never heard anyone from Massachusetts say "youse." Just one cousin, by marriage, from New Jersey. And, a friend from Ohio. I would advise anyone from up North to avoid Locklear's. Apparently Lance is still fighting the Civil War!And, that sucker's been over for 150 years.
